Paul Hart


This is Paul’s second production as Director since taking over as Artistic Director at the Watermill, following his production of Romeo & Juliet earlier this year.

Previous productions for The Watermill include: Journey’s End, The Tempest, Great Expectations and Heroes. Other recent credits include: Private Peaceful and Pope Joan (National Youth Theatre/ West End); Doctor Faustus (National Theatre Studio); Huis Clos (Donmar Warehouse at Trafalgar Studios) and How to Find Love in Three Easy Dreams and Odd Jobs (Pentabus Young Writers Festival).

As Resident Assistant Director at the Donmar Warehouse: Red (also Broadway), Life Is a Dream, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Doll’s House and Dimetos.

As Associate Director for Propeller: Pocket Henry and Pocket Merchant. Also: UK and International Tours of Henry V, The Winter’s Tale, Richard III, The Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Merchant of Venice.

As Staff Director at the National Theatre: The Captain of Köpenick (NT Olivier).

As an Assistant Director elsewhere: They’re Playing Our Song (Menier Chocolate Factory) and The Sea (Theatre Royal Haymarket).

Drama College productions include: The Revenger’s Tragedy (LAMDA); Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Fall of the House of Usher (Rose Bruford College) and Boys (Guildhall School of Speech and Drama).

Radio includes: Existentialism in Theatre (The Essay, BBC Radio 3).
